Not bad. My meals seemed a little small so I got a bit hungry at night. Got my cardio in early. Burned 2686 as of 9 PM. Not too bad.

Lot's of walking today
Not a bad thing. Today is cardio day, but my walking doesn't count because it "shopping walking", which isn't cardio challenging. As of 5 PM, I burned 1987 calories, about 1000 short of my daily allotment. As of 9:30 PM, I have not done my 30 mins of cardio. Still planning on trying to get that in, or perhaps I will make today my "day off". I've been working out solidly for 4 days everyday and a break is okay.
Tomorrow is cardio & strength day again. Will try to get there early, during Tuck's first nap and while Ryan is at church with Grandma.
I made some okay choices today. Didn't eat as many meals as I am supposed to, though. I ate an awesome breakfast of a protein bar & protein shake, about 400 cals, ate out for lunch at the salad bar type place. Lot's of veggies and only tiny muffins for dessert. Muffins must have just about wrecked my sugar, though, because it was high when I was home and making me sleepy. I think it's the waiting too long between breakfast (8:30 AM) and lunch (1:30 PM), a whopping 5 hours between meals. Now, it's 9:30 PM and I have not eaten since lunch. Also, I haven't been drinking my water goals.
Ah, must post my daily affirmations here so I can look at them from anywhere...

Thanksgiving
I am very proud of myself. I did really well on Thanksgiving...this countries biggest excuse to gorge out/pig out. I ate mostly turkey, quarter cup size of mashed potatoes and a tiny bit of gravy on it. I had a tiny sliver of pumpkin pie.
I did eat two meals prior to T-day dinner (at 1PM), but none after, so I could have done better in that respect. As for exercise, it was cardio only day on my BFFM plan and I did an hour of Turbo Kick (cardio kick box) and walked pushing a stroller for three sets of 15 minutes each, one time pushing 21 lbs of a 9 month old and twice pushing my 32 lb 3.5 year old and his 9 month old brother. That was a workout! All three walks showed up on my activities for yesterday on body bugg and Turbo clocked in at 10.5 calories a minute for burn.
Today was cardio & strength day. So, at 11, after the kids went down for their naps, I went to our local 24Fitness and did my strength training. Wow, it was packed! All kinds of people on the exercise punishment pony. All kinds of muscleheads too. I am used to the gym that is close to work and it's much smaller and easier to find everything. Our local 24 is a supersport and it's hard to find everything. I even had to ask another exerciser where the barbells were. And so many were missing and misplaced (the heavier ones were higher and nothing was in order like I am accustomed to). I have yet to do my 30 mins of cardio today.
Did I say that I lost 0.2 lbs yesterday according to my Tanita? Wahoo, weight loss on Turkey day! On the downside, I gained about 6 lbs since the last post I posted my weight being stuck at 227.2. I hit 233.6 last Saturday and am now 231.0. My usual weigh day is Saturday. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
Getting ready to eat some yummy chicken, wild rice & aspargus for dinner.

Wow, has it really been since 10/28 that I blogged?
Oops, there goes my daily promise to myself. At least doing this blog does inspire and motivate me to move, which is wonderful. That's the whole point, right, to be accountable? Even though I have not been posting, I have been exercising.Tonight, I did my cardio kick box in two sets, repeating a section and moving on when I returned home. As of 10:45, I burned 3167 calories today, walked 16, 418 steps. I did not log my calories, but I know dinner was 360, b'fast was about 400 with 2, 200 calorie snacks an lunch was about 480 calories, which is about 1640 cals about. So I ate about half the calories I burned today. I know this is not the best way to eat and I should eat more, but sometimes it's so hard to get all my calories in. I am not losing weight. I weighed in this AM at 227.2, exactly where I was when I started this blog a week ago. I know I need to eat more and get strength training in.Betsey

Another day another workout, strength today
I worked out with my trainer James today. I told him it had been awhile since I'd done strength training and all the daily cardio I've been doing hasn't dropped a tenth of a pound in the last two weeks. Major bummer. I do love doing Turbo. I can feel that it tightens my muscles, but it hasn't helped me lose weight this month. You'd think with the number of calories I burn coupled with what I eat that I would be dropping the pounds, but it just ain't happenin'.Stats for today are: calories burned as of 9:30: 2741steps taken: 11, 349calories in: ??Betsey

Keep it up. I've been on the bugg for a few weeks and already credit it with getting past my biggest weightloss plateau. By best piece of advice would be to curb your breakfast (i.e. a few egg whites, yogurtand a banana is a great meal) to bank some calories for the rest of the day. Also, try to systematically overestimate the calories you claim to be eating.

Thanks for the advice, Cornellius! I've had the bugg for a couple of months and credit it with a 2% reduction in BF% and 13 lb weight loss. I am a new mom and am having a tough time staying healthy enough to go to the gym as often as needed.

Positives for today
Ok, I didn't work out. I didn't eat clean. I did actually read a lot of the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle eBook I bought. Wow, it's an eye opener. For years, I've been shooting to weigh 145. It's based on BMI, which I know is useless. When I was on Weight Watchers, I did the math for what 26 BMI would be ad 145 was it for my height. Actually, when you set a weight goal, WW requires that the maximum be 26 BMI for women. Now that I know BMI is complete crap that tells you no more than the scale, I see the error of my thinking. I've read through chapter four of the BFFM book and it really resonates with me.So from where I am now, still sitting at 227, I was shooting for an 82 lb weight loss. Now, I can see that would be unreasonable. My current skinfold reading is 33% body fat at 227 and 5'5". Doing the math, my fat lbs are 75 (74.91) and my lean body weight is 152. My bones, water and muscle are more weight than my old goal weight. See, that IS unreasonable. So now, my goal is not based on weight or BMI, it's based on body composition. I am currently at 33% body fat. My 12-month goal is 16% body fat. Wow, that sounds really lean to me. If I feed the muscle and burn the fat (concept of the book...keep the muscle or lean body mass, and burn fat through exercise), I would be at 16% body fat at 180 lbs. Wow, that's very different from 145.So, here's the daily goals: drink half my body weight in ounces in water everyday, eat six small meals each day (b'fast, lunch & dinner a bit bigger at around 400 cals & snacks around 200, which would put me around 1800 cals). Hmm, maybe that's not enough calories though, since I burn anywhere between 2400-3000 cals a day. Will have to try that to see if I can actually lose any weight. It might be too agressive of a calorie deficit.Betsey

New Goals
I have finally finsished BFFM! What an undertaking that was. 300+ pages, all of them vital information, for sure. So, I figured out my calories burned, my heart rate during exercise and calories in. Calories in is set at about 2300 and since my average calorie burn over the last month was 2853, I decided 2850 has a nice round ring to it.I was measured by a different trainer today since mine was out. Wow, eithe I am up 3.5% BF or they measure very differently. Today's trainer didn't seem to pinch the calipers too tightly.I was pretty good today. I ate mostly clean at 2000 cals, did both strength training, beginner workout from BFFM and 55 minutes of cardio today. Yeah. Gearing up for the food festivities tomorrow.Tired, must.get.sleep.or.I.will.passout.Betsey

Wow, Day 0 on my body transformation!
I plan on using this space to document my journey to health. I need to figure out how to post pictures, well I need to take some also. No recent pics.Current stats: weight is 227 and my body fat % is 32 when it was last checked. My goal for the next 12 weeks is to bring my body fat down to 30%I have a bodybugg and regularly check my calorie burn through out the day. When I exercise, I burn about 3000 calories and when I do not, I burn about 2500. I am a nursing mom and I need to make sure I eat enough calories to produce milk for my son yet not so much that I keep weight on. I try to go to the gym 4x a week.I've been losing some here and there since I got my bodybugg, but haven't been really consistent at the gym due to illness in the family, including my own 3 week bout with a sinus infection. I hope this blog keeps me more motivated to stick to my program. I need to be better about journaling my food. I tend to eat so much cleaner when I write it all down.Tomorrow's plan is to do a JDRF walk-a-thon which is a 2 mile walk in San Francisco. The whole family is going on the walk. I am just elated that my husband a couch potato wants to do the walk. I hope it to be a fun day.

The Walk - Day 1!
Well Geez, I feel like such a dork. I love my bodybugg and wear it ALL THE TIME. I do this big walk to cure diabetes thing and I forgot to put it back on after my shower this morning. I know I walked at least 4 miles today. We had a hard time figuring out exactly where the walk was, so we parked about half a mile away. We shared pulling the boys behind us in the wagon, which added about another 120 lbs to the whole exercise. The walk itself wasn't too long, about 45 minutes to walk, but I wouldn't call it a workout because I lost count of how many times we had to stop and go back for our 3 year old Ryan. The 2.5 mile walk was fun, so many people on the trail, it was great!DH has some pictures to upload and I will include that here once we get it on the internet.I need to make a correction: my starting weight is 227. Kind of funny, before I lost 62 lbs before I got pregnant with Tucker (8 mos), 230 was my set/plateau point and 250 was my absolute, "must go on diet" weight. Now, my comfort level has changed and I don't feel good at 227. I made it down to 191 and I want to get there and beyond.Although a specific weight is not my goal, my intention is to burn unwanted fat. My fat % is about 32 right now and my goal in the next 12 weeks is to get to 30%.More tomorrow!

Wow, what did I do today toward my goal...
Um...nothing?I didn't eat clean. For any meal. I ate a fried egg in bread (hubby calls it Popeye Eggs, not sure why...) with real maple syrup. No mid-morning snack. Tuna sandwich with mayo, capers and toasted onions for lunch, ohhh and a half a snickerdoodle cookie. Peanut butter honey dipped apple for an afternoon snack. Crepe with swiss cheese, deli ham and a fried egg on top at a French cafe in San Francisco for dinner. With loads of decaf coffee with sugar cubes becuase they didn't have Splenda. Ugh, I hate it that I ate that way today.Did I shred anything? No. I didn't even tear anything! Or nick anything...I did homework and drove around San Francisco all evening. Fun, but not what I'd call active. Out of my 10,000 steps per day goal, I did 5655 as of 9PM. Burned 2533 calories so far.Plan for tomorrow? Go to the gym, at least do a 20 min treadmill interval and maybe some Turbo Training. If I really feel like I have the time, maybe some Piyo (pilates and yoga). Eat better. Of course, that wouldn't take much. Also, will log my food to see what I eat against what I burn. That's why I bought the bugg, right?

The good news & bad news
Good news first, of course...I walked 10,160 steps so far today. I ate an okay breakfast, an okay lunch as a so-so dinner. Better than yesterday. I will get in some yoga poses before bed.Bad news, I didn't get the exercise in I had planned. I was just too tired. Exhausted actually. I haven't had regular caffeine in five years and I got slipped some with yesterday's dinner. I was up til 2AM with my mind unable to quiet. Up at 5:30, as usual.Tomorrow won't be a high walk day unless I go to the gym and do my interval treadmill training. I found I like the treadmill best for my intervals. It's a tough workout when you primarily use elevation to create the interval. So far, as of 9:30 PM, my calorie burn is 2341. Not too stellar. Yesterday's was better. Let's see what tomorrow brings. It's bedtime.

Yeah!! I did it!
Even though I had another rough night with the boys deciding that 1AM was a great time to get up this morning, I forced myself to get some cardio in today. It was fun. It was definitely not slow cardio. I do Turbo Kick (actually certified to teach it) and have been trying to learn Round 25. I was able to take it all the way through the anaerobic section. Yeah!Calorie burn so far (as of 9PM) is 2602, steps are 10,189.

Workout 2, complete
I was feeling really crappy today, so I thought that some good old fashioned sweat might help. It did. I did my turbo kick cardio again, this time with the DVD, not just my iPod. It's a fun one. I will see if I can get to the gym tomorrow for a strength workout. Things are finally slowing down at work enough to attempt it. Still need to figure out how to post a darn picture...Heading to bed after another day.

Workout 3
Today was an all around good day. I logged my food and ate pretty well, with calorie in total of 1941 and calories out, as of 8 PM is 2737. No crap, but planned food.Step goal: met; goal is 10K & I did 14,676. Steps are largely due to the Turbo Kick during my morning workout.I did personal training today with James at 24hr for about an hour. We did about 20 minutes of agility, strength work and about 45 minutes of Turbo Kick. He kicked my butt with agility training and I kicked his butt with Turbo. It was great!!No major philosophical work today. Just waiting to go to sleep. I am wiped after a long week of poor sleeping (two children under 4 will do that to ya).

Today, I've been pretty good, except for a trip to Costco and little nibbles. How do you put those into your food diary? I am not sure. A bit of beef, a quarter inch square of cupcake. I know it adds up, but how to log it? Not sure.Well, because of the nibbling and a long break between lunch and dinner (lunch at 11:30 & dinner at 9 PM), I did skip two meals: my AM & PM snacks. I will get in my evening snack. So here's my stats for today.Calories burned as of 10:30 PM: 3150Calories logged for day: 1510steps taken: 15,561total physical activity time: 1hr 48 minsNutrition: protein 22%; carbs 58%; fat 20% of days caloriesTomorrow, I will be doing a few hours of walking around a festival with two small children and then working a table for my employer as a volunteer. Hopefully, it will be fun!

Just Walking today...nuttin' else
Lots of walking. Two hours of strolling around a festival. No time to properly exercise between running around, volunteering at the festival and finishing out my homework. I always wait until the last minute to do my homework. I don't know why I have to stress myself out like that...I am bummed because I, yet again, forgot to wear my bugg! For the whole time we were gone at the festival, I have no idea how many calories I expended.More Turbo tomorrow!
